Summary
This 1986 Topps Stephone Paige #3 is an elite specimen. While the 1986 set is notorious for chipping and poor centering, this card defies the standard. Only a microscopic corner touch and a single print speck hold it back from a Pristine 10. Final Grade: 9.5 MINT+.
Subgrades
Centering
9.5
Front centering is exceptional for 1986 Topps stock, measuring approximately 52/48 left-to-right. Top-to-bottom is nearly dead-on. Reverse shows a slight shift but remains well within Mint+ tolerances.
Corners
9.5
Three corners are razor sharp. The bottom right corner exhibits a microscopic touch of white visible only under 10x magnification, preventing a perfect 10.
Edges
9.5
Edges are remarkably clean. Minor factory rough-cut texture is present on the right rail, which is typical for the era and does not constitute damage.
Surface
9.5
The yellow borders are vibrant with no evidence of staining. A singular, minute print dot is located in the blue field near the player's left wrist, barely breaking the gloss.
Print Quality
10
Registration is perfect. The 'Record Breaker' text and the player image are crisp with no color bleed or ghosting.
