Summary
This 1991 Pro Set Mario Lemieux #318 is a mid-to-high grade example hampered by significant edge chipping and a notable surface scratch on the reverse. While the eye appeal of the front remains decent, the structural integrity of the corners and the surface damage on the back prevent a higher designation. Per NGA standards, the subgrades average to 7.7, which is rounded down to a final grade of 7.5 NM+.
Subgrades
Centering
10
Exceptional 50/50 alignment on both axes. The white borders on the front are perfectly symmetrical, and the reverse text block is precisely centered within the pillar frame.
Corners
10
All four corners are razor-sharp. Under magnification, there is zero evidence of white-tipping or pressure points, even on the sensitive black-bordered reverse.
Edges
7.5
Significant chipping and white nicks along the top edge of the front. Right edge shows rough factory cutting typical of 1991 Pro Set stock.
Surface
7
The reverse side exhibits a prominent diagonal scratch across the image of Lemieux. Front surface has minor wax dulling and scattered micro-scratches.
Print Quality
9
Color saturation is strong, though typical Pro Set graininess is present in the darker areas of the crowd.
